Calibration used to be ten small, flat nodes per class and a slow drip of points that didn't start until Level 16. Both of those are gone. Every level-up banks a Calibration point now, starting from your very first — so by the time you cross Level 5 and the ceremony opens, you're already walking in with points to spend, not staring at an empty rack waiting for Level 16 to arrive.
The view itself is a real chart now, not a list: your class emblem at the centre, rings climbing outward from Base through Rank IV, each outer ring drawn dark and fogged until you actually reach it. Three named paths radiate out from the middle — Hauler runs Hold, Reach and Hull; Scout runs Trim, Beam and Eye; Salvager runs Hands, Eye and Hold — each one lit in its class's own signature colour.
Spending is staged now, not instant. Click a node and it doesn't spend a point on the spot — it joins a plan, lit at half-brightness, with a live readout showing exactly what the whole plan changes before you commit to any of it. One press of INSTALL locks the entire plan in at once. Close the screen first and the plan just evaporates — nothing spent, nothing lost.
Each of the three paths per class crowns in a keystone — a rule change instead of a bigger number. A Hauler can send overflow cargo straight to the Warehouse instead of blocking a pickup, a Scout can make a held sonar ping echo twice with the second echo seeing through cover, and a Salvager can have the hook grab two adjacent salvage nodes in one cast. Nine keystones total, three per class, each one a real mechanic worth planning a build around — the rest are worth finding for yourself in the chart.
Re-tuning a tree you've already built is free the first time. After that it costs crystals — 2,500 for the next respec, rising by another 2,500 each time after, capped at 20,000. Never real money, and never a wall: an exclusive pair swaps free once you own both sides of it, and a balance patch that nerfs something you already own hands you a free respec token outright.
