Stone Choir Medusa
Chorus lapidis
Filed in the field ledger, but not yet swimming in any water reachable today — real content, not a placeholder, waiting on its own unlock.
Field record
Not one animal but a colony that has learned to sound together, and the reason the second stone rings instead of groaning: each bell takes a note and holds it, and the mass of rock around them acts as the body of the instrument. The hydrophones recover a chord, never a call. Nobody who has heard it played back at full depth has been willing to describe it as biological, which is a failure of vocabulary rather than of the recording.
Habitat
Catching it
A Leviathan-tier catch needs at least a Heavy-Gauge Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 850 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
Full capture mechanics — sighting vs. capture, the aim ring, why a net below a creature’s tier always bursts — in The Ledger.
