Driftlight Squid
Umbratus frondifer
Field record
It hangs motionless under the canopy with its skin flickering through the same broken gold and green the fronds scatter across it, holding the pattern until the light itself seems to shift. When I get too close it doesn't ink — it kicks loose a cloud of torn frond-flecks and rides out inside that instead, so the whole escape reads as nothing more than falling debris.
Habitat
Catching it
A Twilight-tier catch needs at least a Fine Mesh Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 90 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
