Pallid Frond Jelly

Frondiscus pallens

Twilight14 cm bell · Resting · nocturnal

Field record

It presses its bell flat against the underside of a frond and lets the edges furl in against the blade, and in that shape it reads as a pale scar on the kelp rather than an animal. Only after the light drops does it lift free and round out into something with a shape of its own. I have started checking every unusually bleached patch on the fronds before moving on.

Marginal note:a bleached patch on the frond that wasn't there yesterday

DiscoveryNo special condition — found simply by piloting close enough to identify it.

Catching it

A Twilight-tier catch needs at least a Fine Mesh Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 90 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
