Field record
When the tide drops it doesn't try to follow the water back out — it lets itself be left in the shallowest pool on the flat and deflates its bell down to a damp coin of tissue until the sea returns. I have prodded what I was sure was a dead one and watched it flinch a slow, reluctant pulse in answer. By the next high water it is fully reinflated, drifting as if the six stranded hours never happened.
Habitat
Catching it
A Coastal-tier catch needs at least a Fine Mesh Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 90 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
Full capture mechanics — sighting vs. capture, the aim ring, why a net below a creature’s tier always bursts — in The Ledger.
