Cellar Mantle Squid
Sepiola infimus
Twilight19 cm mantle · Jetting · reclusive
Field record
It holds to the deepest, blackest floor of the twilight water like the bottom shelf of a cellar nobody visits, jetting backward into a fold of rock at the first hint of light from above. I only found three in as many months, all of them wedged into the same kind of narrow crevice, facing out.
Marginal note: “wedges itself into the deepest crevice it can find”
Habitat
ZoneTwilight Zone
Depth range600–1,300 m
DiscoveryFound only in full darkness, well below where sunlight reaches — real depth, no lamp of your own to help you spot it first.
Catching it
A Twilight-tier catch needs at least a Fine Mesh Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 90 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
