It hangs motionless in the rising mineral plume with its long veil fins spread wide, straining the cloudy water the smoker keeps feeding it. The fins have gone a faint rust-orange from years of the same plume passing through them, a stain I haven't seen on anything that lives more than a body-length from a vent.
