It holds itself at the exact edge of the lamp's reach no matter how I adjust speed or distance, as though it measured the beam once and has simply matched it ever since. I have never gotten a clean look at more than a fin and the wet shine of one eye, always right at the point where the light gives out.

Catching it

A Midnight-tier catch needs at least a Braided Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 300 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
