Its transparent bell catches the first edge of the lamp like a broken pane of glass, then folds tight and slips away on a sharp pulse that leaves a silver wake behind it. Every sighting ends at the same distance from the drone: close enough to prove it is alive, never close enough to hold without first stopping its flight.

Catching it
