Silt Skimmer

Limus vagus

Midnight18 cm nose to tail · Grazing · silt

Field record

This is a Midnight Zone regular that I usually log skimming the silt flats a full band above here, mouth down, stirring a fine trail behind it as it grazes. I found the same trail along the upper trench floor tonight, the animal itself indistinguishable from the ones up-slope. It does not slow down or change its grazing line for the extra pressure.

Marginal note:the silt scar it leaves has been seen at both survey depths this month

Habitat

DiscoveryFound only in full darkness, well below where sunlight reaches — real depth, no lamp of your own to help you spot it first.

Catching it

A Midnight-tier catch needs at least a Braided Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 300 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
