Pressure-Shelf Isopod
Isopoda enormis
Abyssalestimated over a metre, unconfirmed · Sheltering · rumored
Field record
An old expedition log describes something isopod-shaped and far too large sheltering under a shelf of rock at the edge of sonar range, filed with a note that reads only 'do not approach the ledge.' No one has explained the note since, and no one has gone back to ask.
Marginal note: “the old notes say not to approach the ledge”
Habitat
ZoneThe Lower Dark
Depth range2,100–2,800 m
DiscoveryFound only in full darkness, well below where sunlight reaches — real depth, no lamp of your own to help you spot it first.
Catching it
A Abyssal-tier catch needs at least a Heavy-Gauge Net— anything under that rating can never hold it, whatever the throw. Bought at the Quartermaster’s counter for 850 crystals. A held net inks this entry for good and pays its ledger bonus on the spot.
